Bessie Flores Zaldívar is an artist and educator from Tegucigalpa, Honduras. She earned an MFA in Fiction from Virginia Tech and lives in New Haven, Connecticut.
Libertad, Bessie’s debut publication, was awarded the Pura Belpré Honor by the American Library Association, the International Literacy Award, and the Américas Award. It was named a best book of 2024 by Kirkus Review, Publishers Weekly, Chicago Public Library, among others.
